As a big follower and proponent of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, I have been following President Xi Jinping since 2013, who has been speaking about a world as a community where people live in harmony and not just interconnected but interdependent.

China is fulfilling its promises as it has taken the BRI forward. The BRI has helped poverty alleviation and develop the social and economic connectivity through various initiatives. Today, we can see the development of infrastructure and energy in many countries including Pakistan has helped poverty alleviation.

When it comes to the effects that the concept brings to other countries or the world, we are not talking about changes but harmony. China speaks about non-interference and connectivity.

What China wants to do is connecting people. It's not just about linking roads and bridges but policy connectivity on trade and investments so that economic prosperity can come. The vision of a community with a shared future is about prosperity and mutual growth. Through BRI and other initiatives, countries could benefit from each other's endowments when they are linked, when policies are connected, when seamless trade happens, and when trucks, trains and lorries move conveniently from one country to another .

Dr. Hassan Butt has been the Project Director of the China-Pak economic corridor in BRI.
