Exploring the Basics of AI: AI & Real Guangzhou International Summit 2020 was successfully held

On the afternoon of November 26th, 2020, the “AI & Real Guangzhou International Summit 2020” was held in Guangzhou. Gong Guoping, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province hosted the meeting.

Zhang Xu, Deputy Director-General of Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, and Wang Xi, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province made opening remarks.

The forum consisted of five sections: launching ceremony, awarding ceremony, signing ceremony, new product release and keynote speeches. The construction of Guangzhou National New Generation Artificial Intelligence Innovation Development Pilot Zone and Pazhou Lab Artificial Intelligence Model and Algorithm Research Center were launched. A series of New Generation Artificial Intelligence Open Innovation Platform were awarded. Five program deals have been signed between various companies and Pazhou Lab. Several new products have been released during the forum.

This forum brings together well-known academicians, industry-leading entrepreneurs, and famous technical experts to discuss topics closely related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) in many aspects. There are four main topics in this forum: Combination of 5G and AI; Strengthening the layout of advanced technologies in AI, and promote basic research; Accelerating the breakthrough of key core AI technologies, and enhance creativity and practical application; Promoting the penetration of AI into various fields so as to promote economic and social development.

Zhang Bo, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor of Computer Science and Technology Department of Tsinghua University, talked about the third generation AI from the perspective of the relationship between AI technologies and their application scenarios and the administration of AI.

Xu Zongben, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of Pazhou Lab, Director of National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analytics, pointed out that AI cannot be avoided as it has changed our mindset and productivity at the same time. Despite the tenuous connection between mathematics and AI, they do develop integratedly.

Doranda Doo, Senior Vice President of iFLYTEK Co., Ltd., William Xu, Huawei Director of the board, President of Institute of Strategic Research, and Wang Xiaogang, President of Mobile Intelligence Group Co-founder and Head of Research, SenseTime sared their insights from the perspective of enterprises.

Several overseas IEEE fellows also sent their wishes via video.

Around the keynote of "5G and Artificial Intelligence", the Summit focuses on new and thriving 5G segments and highlights the combination of 5G and artificial intelligence. It thoroughly explored ways to accelerate cutting-edge technologies in artificial intelligence, promote basic research, speed up key core technologies breakthrough, enhance creativity and practical application, and facilitate artificial intelligence to penetrate into various fields concerned, thus driving the economic and social development.
