近日，中国生物技术发展中心与中国医药城签署了合作协议。根据协议，国际遗传工程和生物中心（ICGEB）未来将在江苏省泰州医疗高新区，开设其在中国的第一个区域研究中心。
泰州医药高新区党工委副书记、管委会主任顾萍、中国生物技术发展中心副主任范玲、ICGEB中国区域研究中心副总干事劳伦斯·班克斯等人出席了此次活动。
为了响应“一带一路”倡议，集中全球创新资源，提高中国的国际合作能力，中国区域研究中心预计将于2020年正式开放。
该中心设于江苏省泰州市医疗高新区，由800多家生物医药企业组成，将通过使科技（交流）国际化、建设高端人才培养创新中心等方式，加强相关地区和成员国之间的合作。它将具科学研究、人才培养和能力建设三个功能。在科学研究方面，它将侧重于病毒(疫苗)、生物制剂(抗体药物)和体外诊断。
劳伦斯•班克斯表示:“对ICGEB而言，运营地区研究中心项目是一场‘令人兴奋的冒险’。中国在这些中心的实施方面处于领先地位，这确实令人感到美妙。”整个概念的目的是增加ICGEB在其成员国内部的活动，这个项目对中国来说，是非常基础的。”
他补充道:“这是扩大意大利和中国之间交流的绝佳机会。今年是中意交往50年的里程碑。中意之间的密切合作，我想不出比ICGEB第一个区域研究中心将在中国正式运行更好的方式来纪念了。”
签约仪式在区域研究中心项目推介会结束后举行，当天的活动包括注册区域研究中心为非营利法人实体，和招募区域研究中心主任。

First ICGEB Regional Research Centre opens in China
ICGEB will open its first Regional Research Centre (RRC) in China within Taizhou Medical Hi-Tech Zone in Jiangsu province, following the signing of a cooperation agreement on January 6, with the China National Center for Biotechnology Development （CNCBD） and China Medical City.
Gu Ping, Deputy Secretary, Taizhou Medical Hi-tech Zone Party Working Committee and Director Taizhou Medical Hi-tech Zone, Fan Ling, Deputy Director General of CNCBD, and Lawrence Banks, ICGEB Director-General together with representatives from Fudan and Nanjing Medical Universities and the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were in attendance.
To respond to “The Belt and Road Initiative” and concentrate global innovative resources to improve China’s international cooperation capacity, the RRC is expected to officially open in 2020.
Located within the Taizhou Medical Hi-Tech Zone in Jiangsu Province comprising more than 800 companies working in the biomedical sector, it will enhance collaboration among related regions and Member countries through science and technology, internationalization and building a high-end, talent training and an innovative centre. It will build three functions: science research, talent training, and capability building. For science research, it will focus on virus (vaccine), biologics (antibody drugs), and in-vitro diagnostics.
“For ICGEB the Regional Research Centre project is an extremely exciting new adventure ” – says Lawrence Banks – “and the fact that China is leading the way in the implementation of these Centres is truly wonderful. The whole concept is aimed to increase ICGEB’s activity within its Member countries – and in the case of China this is absolutely fundamental.”
He added: “This is a wonderful opportunity for expanding interactions between Italy and China. This year marks a milestone in Italy-China interactions – 50 years of close cooperation and collaboration – and I can think of no better way to mark this collaboration than the opening of the first ICGEB RRC in China.”
The signing ceremony took place following the meeting of the RRC Project Promotion where the order of the day included registering of the RRC as a non-profit legal entity and the recruitment of the Director of the RRC.
