GTCOM Establishes a Strategic Partnership with ITBM to Co-Build Malaysia’s National AI Translation Platform
On June 18, 2025, during the 31st Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd. (GTCOM) and Malaysian Institute of Translation & Books (ITBM) held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony at China National Convention Center (CNCC), officially launching the development of Malaysia’s National AI Translation Platform. The signing ceremony was attended and witnessed by Hon. Wong Kah Woh, Deputy Minister of Educationof Malaysia, and Mr. Huang Zhijian, Chairman of China Publishing Group Co., Ltd. (CPG).
According to the agreement, GTCOM will leverage its expertise in AI and language technologies to provide AI solutions empowered by large language model (LLM), while ITBM will, aligned with its governmental, research, educational and industrial needs, bring into full play its strengths in Malaysian language research and data resources. In a bid to establish a premier national AI translation platformfor Malaysia, the two parties will focus on such key initiatives as cultivating translation professionals, developing a national-level corpus database, and building a Chinese-Malay machine translation (MT) system.
This represents another significant endeavor of GTCOM in implementing the National “New-generation AI” Key Program in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) partner countries. It will provide asubstantial support for building a China-Malaysia national discourse system. Additionally, GTCOM, as a “language service export base” certified by the Ministry of Commerce and other six ministriesof China, will work with its Malaysian partners to establish a regional collaboration mechanism for translation research and facilitate the industry-academia-research cooperation among Chinese institutions of higher learning, Malaysian Ministry of Education and ITBM, with a focus on cultivating professional translators/interpreters, standardizing terminology and developing industry norms, thus jointly enhancing the China-Malaysia cultural exchange system.
The signing ceremony was also attended by H.E. Dato’ Norman Muhamad, Ambassador of Malaysia to the People’s Republic of China, and other Malaysian representatives, as well as Yu Yang, General Manager of China Translation Corporation (CTC) and Chairman of GTCOM, and other Chinese representatives.
