Unlocking Ancient & Modern 'Tech' of Jinci Temple (I)

From an ancient sound system and a natural "refrigerator" to digital archiving and painted-sculpture restoration, what other forms of "black tech" are hidden within the Jinci Temple in Taiyuan, Shanxi province?
Recently, Muhammad Waseem Rasheed, a Pakistani doctoral student at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited the Temple to explore this "museum of ancient Chinese architecture" and discover how modern technology is helping protect cultural heritage.
He remarked that ancient and modern wisdom have converged here, and that safeguarding cultural heritage is not only a matter of the present, but also of the future.
